rarepairmod

rarepairexchange is a fanwork exchange focusing on rare ships (romantic and/or sexual). We define "rare" as relationships having less than 250 works on AO3, are completed and written in English, and filtered using the otp:true filter.

We have a minimum requirement of 1,000 words (or work equivalent) and allow fic, art, and podfic. You must have an AO3 account and be 18+ to participate.

Hello, Pears!

I'm excited to be running another round of Rare Pair Exchange for 2025. I've appearciated the enthusiasm to see this exchange return!

If you participated in the exchange last year (2024 round), please make sure you have commented on all of your gifts. This exchange has a mandatory rule that all gifts must be commented on (with a good faith effort) for participants to be able to participate again. If you cannot comment on your gift for any reason, please contact me at rarepairexmod@gmail.com. A handy link, if you need it: The 2024 AO3 collection.

If you have not commented on your gifts by the time the 2025 round begins, you will not be able to participate in this round of the exchange.

Please comment on all of your gifts by Monday 4 August (11.59pm EDT).

I will be revising the rules and guidelines for the 2025 round and posting them in the next few weeks. Please note the eligibility criteria remains the same, but we will be adding podfic to our list of mediums allowed in the exchange.

Hey Pears! Creators have been revealed! With that, our second round ends. :)

Thank you to everyone for participating and helping make this exchange a success! We finished with over 350 works in 233 fandoms!

Please remember that commenting is mandatory in this exchange. You must comment on your gifts before the start of the round next year (dates TBD) to be eligible to sign up for 2025's round. Please comment on all of your gifts.

The collection will remain open indefinitely so you're welcome to post late treats. (Please make sure they have a recipient.)

The deadline for assignments has passed!

What happens next?
We'll be working our way through approving assignments and defaulting participants who haven't requested an extension or submitted a completed work. After this, we'll be posting our post-deadline pinch hits for claiming. We expect this all to happen in the next 24 hours.

Please make sure your work is not in draft. If it is, we will consider you as defaulted.

If you have changed your username since assignments went out and haven't informed us, please do so as soon as possible via rarepairexmod@gmail.com

But I don't have a gift!
There are plenty of people who currently have extensions. However, you're welcome to reach out to us via rarepairexmod@gmail.com to confirm.

Once the deadline has passed, we will default anyone who hasn't submitted their assignment and has no extension. A 'Post Deadline Pinch Hit' list will be posted shortly after.

We couldn't run our exchange without the help of our pinch hitters! If you're a pinch hitter who is not signed up to participate in our 2024 round who would like to put yourself forward for a gift, please drop yourself on this post with your requests!

You can peruse the tagset and select fandoms and pairings that have been accepted for this round.
